A Gun and bomb attack on Istanbul's Ataturk international airport has killed 36 people and injured more than 140 others, officials say. Three attackers began shooting outside and inside the terminal late on Tuesday and blew themselves up after police fired at them, officials say. Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said early signs suggested the so-called Islamic State was behind the attack.

Recent bombings have been linked to either IS or Kurdish separatists.

Officials have identified the nationalities of two foreigners killed in the airport. They say one of them was Ukrainian while anther was Iranian. Saudi Arabia had previously said at least seven of its citizens were injured.

The prime minister of Albania landed in Ataturk airport just minutes after the attack, the Associated Press reports. Edi Rama was visiting Turkey for a series of official meetings, which he has said will still go ahead. He tweeted his condolences to the victims of the attack and blamed it on "those who have no God or hope and no place among the people".
