The Turkish government intends to temporarily suspend the European Convention on Human Rights. The Turkish media informs.

The Turkish vice Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus Nurman tells the state of emergency will give a free hand to the government for fighting with the riot organizers and to clean the governmental organizations and state establishments from the members of Gülen movement [a liberal Islamic transnational religious and social movement led by Turkish Islamic theologian and preacher Fethullah Gülen, Gulenista movement].

He also underlined that as a precedent France also suspended the ECHR under the Article 15, in a state of emergency.


He also assures that this decision will not affect in no way the fundamental rights and freedoms and will not be reflected to the normal day-to-day living.
