On June 27-28, the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi presents The Melvin Williams Group to Georgian audiences. The group has been nominated for six GRAMMY Awards, and has shared the stage with many famous artists including Stevie Wonder. The Melvin Williams Group combines gospel, soul, jazz, and hip hop, bridging the gap between traditional and contemporary gospel music. The leader of the group, Melvin Williams (Vocals), has one of the most distinctive gospel voices in the music industry. Melvin Williams and other members of the group Andre L. Tate (Vocals) Bridget Fleury (Percussion, Piano & Guitar) Castro Coleman (Guitarist and Vocals) are famous for engaging the audiences in energetic performances around the world.

The Melvin Williams Group is visiting Georgia as part of the U.S. Department of State program "The Rhythm Road: American Music Abroad" produced by Jazz at Lincoln Center. The Rhythm Road has evolved from the largely successful Jazz Ambassadors, a program established in 1955 by the U.S. Department of State. Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Dave Brubeck, and other famous American musicians were sent to perform around the world under this program.

The Melvin Williams Group will perform compact IDP settlement in Tserovani on June 27, and at Club 33 A in Tbilisi Vake Park on June 28 at 19:00. Attendance is free.
