Rasmussen: we will discuss internal reforms in Georgia

Georgia-NATO Council will discuss today internal reforms in Georgia, namely reforms which are touching fight against corruption, freedom of speech, justice reform and economic growth, Andres Fogh Rasmussen said.

"As well the reforms in defense area and financing for military sphere will be negotiated. We will discuss challenges in security, which exist nowadays in Georgia and will be in the future, "- Rasmussen said at the beginning of Georgia-NATO Council sitting.

Within the two-day visit, Anders Fogh Rasmussen will hold several high-ranking meetings in Georgia. He will hold meetings with representatives of Georgia's government and parliament. Georgian politicians are confident that Rasmussen as well as the alliance ambassadors will confirm the decision made at Bucharest summit in 2008 on Georgia's integration into the alliance. The progress made by Georgia on its way to NATO will also be discussed at the bilateral meetings.

He underlined that NATO will support Georgia in reforms conduction. He as well touched a question of Georgian soldiers participation in ISAF operation. We will honor all those soldiers who takes part in ISAF operation, its heroic actions are not vain, he noted.
