Estonian singer-songwriter Egert Milder competes in Estonia’s national selection for Eurovision Song Contest with a song called “Georgia (On My Mind)” inspired by the 3 years he lived in Tbilisi.
Egert moved to Georgia in 2016 to work as a Design Manager in the real estate development. Besides working he also took this time to write music and seek inspiration from the breathtaking landscapes of Georgia.
“Georgia used to be my home for 3 years and during those years, I fell in love with this beautiful country - it's spectacular mountains, tens of thousands of lambs roaming around and cows lying in the middle of the roads, delicious food, wine and everything else that comes with it. Georgia is a country full of magic that you really cannot put into words,” says Egert.
Recently the artist moved away from Georgia but was inspired to write an emotional yet uplifting song about closing this chapter in his life and saying goodbye to this country. “I guess in a way it is a breakup song. There are moments in life where you know it’s time to move forward and let go. For me it meant leaving this beautiful country and people that had grown very close to my heart,” explains Egert.
“Georgia (On My Mind)” was released along with a music video that was filmed in different locations around Georgia and features many of the local people.
The song is now competing in the semifinals of Eurovision’s national selection of Estonia. The first semi-finals will be held on February 13th where Egert will perform the song live on stage as part of one of the most watched TV shows in the country.
