At the International Festival organized by the Akhmeteli Theatre in Tbilisi, Israel will participate for the first time, alongside Spain, Germany, Turkey, Macedonia, and Romania, with both chamber and solo plays.
The show titled "Diasporas Towards Jerusalem," directed by Irakli Gogia, features multidisciplinary artist Megi Rome in a solo performance called "Not Worth a Hairpin," in which she acts, plays, sings, and paints. The show also highlights pianist Gideon Meir, grandson of Golda Meir who will decorate the show with his piano performance.
The play combines a personal story with the historical narrative of a Jewish family, from destruction to resurrection.
During the opening of the show, Gidi Meir and Megi Rome perform a four-hand composition by Johannes Brahms. This is followed by Gidi Meir’s solo performance, accompanied by Georgian singer Kristi Japaridze. Kristi Japaridze, who participates in "Hasbara" conferences around the world, also sings in Hebrew alongside actors Giorgi Gasviani and Ninutsa Nachkhatashvili, a Georgian actress from the Akhmeteli Theatre who has played Anne Frank in numerous plays presented in solidarity with Israel since October 7, 2023.
One of the organizers of this cultural event is the "Israeli House," a member of AEPJ, which promotes cultural ties between Israel and Georgia, as well as with 25 other countries where the organization is active. The event "Diasporas Towards Jerusalem," organized by the "Israeli House" together with the Akhmeteli Theatre, is part of the European Days of Jewish Cultural Heritage, under the auspices of the Council of Europe.
