Shota Rustaveli’s “The Knight in the panther’s skin” was published in Hindi in India.
The idea of translating and publishing " The Knight in the panther’s skin " in Hindi belongs to the Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of India, Mr. Archil Dzuliashvili.
The presentation of the poem in Hindi was held online within the framework of the Jaipur Book Festival.
As the Ambassador said during the presentation, he was supporting the idea of translating and publishing the "The Knight in the panther’s skin" in Hindi for quite a long time and started working for the realization of this project right after arriving in India in diplomatic mission.
"In 2016, when I first arrived in India in diplomatic mission to represent my country, Georgia, I was given the unique opportunity to get acquainted better with the Indian culture, having immediately gained a very important and special place in my heart. With ancient cultures and traditions, Georgia and India have always been close to each other.
From the very first day of my arrival in India, I felt strongly motivated to introduce the brilliance of Georgian literature to the Indian readers, and today, I am glad to inform you that for the first time, one of the greatest masterpieces of the Georgian literature, "The Knight in the panther’s skin", written by the renowned Georgian poet, Shota Rustaveli, was finally published in Hindi. It is a poem which narrates about the universal values describing the permanent struggle between the light and the darkness.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed to the successful implementation of this glorious project and also, congratulate everyone on the successful completion of this historic project.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the directors of the Literature Festival, for allowing us to present this epic poem from Georgia. Thanks to everyone who stood with us and supported us," Archil Dzuliashvili said at the online presentation held in the framework of the Jaipur Book Festival.
