David Howell Petraeus , current Commander, International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and Commander, U.S. Forces Afghanistan (USFOR-A) sent a letter of thanks to Georgian Defense Minister Bacho Akhalaia, GHN reports.
He thanked Georgians for participation in the mission ISAF. The battalions of 31 and 32 were contributing to the peacekeeping operations for security and safety in the provinces Nimus and Halmand, he said.
He noted the Georgian battalions are successfully cooperating with a national security services of Afghanistan and with local governments. They conducted many operations for stability of Islamic republic of Afghanistan. (GIRoA - the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. He noted the Georgian soldiers are indeed very courageous.
He distinguished Fridon Tereladze, vice colonel and Mayor Alexander Tughushi who are very competent in own area of activity are very disciplined and keeping peace in the region. IN all levels of USA Defense Ministry the courage of Georgian peacekeepers is widely known, he noted.
