Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili opened an international symposium of world telecommunications indicators. The head of the Government discussed strategic importance of information communications sector and stated that development of the mentioned sector is one of the priorities of the Georgian Government, reports GHN based on press service of the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister on behalf of the Government expressed his readiness to support investors as much as possible in the process of establishing necessary infrastructure for provision with the quick internet to the Georgian population. The head of the government also informed the participants of the symposium that in Georgia till June 17, 2015 transition from analogue to digital terrestrial broadcasting will be implemented. In his speech Irakli Garibashvili emphasized the progress as well that Georgia has achieved in terms of development of information and communication technologies sector. The Prime Minister named the global report of information technologies published by the world economic forum in the network preparedness index of which the rating of Georgia was improved by 28 stages.
"By establishing different multi service of electronic management systems and effective using of information and communication technologies we have achieved that today only 15-20 minutes are taken for business registration, procedures of issuing personal documents and different public services", - Irakli Garibashvili stated and expressed his hope to deepen the cooperation with international union of world telecommunications.
Before opening the symposium the Prime Minister of Georgia met the secretary general of international union Hualin Jao and director of union development bureau Brahima Sanou. At the introductory meeting Irakli Garibashvili congratulated Hualing Jao on appointing as the secretary general of the International Telecommunication Union, and Brahima Sanou on appointing as the Director of Development Bureau for the second term and wished them success.
