Minister of Defence of Georgia received his Latvian counterpart Raimonds Vējonis today. Latvian Defence Minister is the member of the government delegation paying an official visit to Georgia under the headship of Latvian President Andris Bērziņš, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Defense.
At the beginning of the working visit, Mr. Mindia Janelidze thanked the Latvian guest for the political support of Georgia`s territorial integrity and its Euro-Atlantic aspirations. It was underlined that Latvia stands ready to support Georgia in the implementation of the Substantial Package granted to Georgia at the NATO Wales summit. The sides focused on participation of Latvian observers in the EUMM and Latvia`s active engagement in the NATO Support Agency „Georgia III".
Ministers of defence discussed bilateral cooperation issues and future aspects of partnership. One of the key topics of discussion was Georgia`s NATO membership prospects. Minister highlighted that Georgia had joined the initiative of enhanced opportunities of cooperation with NATO.
