On the 3rd of December 2014, the Georgian Foreign Minister, Ms Tamar Beruchashvili met the NATO Secretary General, Mr Jens Stoltenberg, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting special attention was paid to the issues of priority to Georgia, in particular, to the recent developments in Georgia's occupied territories. "Discussions focused on challenges to regional security, as well as on the signature of the so called treaty between Russia and the Abkhazian occupation regime, which was assessed as yet another step towards annexation and a threat posed to European and Euro-Atlantic security. The NATO secretary General emphasized that this runs counter to the principles upon which co-operation within the Alliance is built" - Tamar Beruchashvili said adding the Georgia will be high on the agenda of discussions around these themes.
Tamar Beruchashvili thanked Jens Stoltenberg for his statements in support for Georgia. The sides discussed the issues relating to the implementation of the substantial package of measures emphasizing the progress Georgia has achieved along the path of European and Euro-Atlantic integration. The NATO secretary General underlined once again Georgia's important contribution towards ensuring global security. "The NATO secretary General emphasized in particular Georgia's contribution to ISAF as well as to NATO's new mission in Afghanistan".
