General Inspection of the Georgian Interior Ministry has detained a detective of the Lanchkhuti police department of Guria Region for bribery.
Police Lieutenant Davit Goguadze extorted bribe of GEL 120 from a citizen in return for assistance for transportation of inert materials without hindrance.
The detainee has already pleaded guilty. The Criminal Code of Georgia envisages imprisonment from 6 to 9 years for bribery.
This is the first case of detention of a police officer in Guria Region. 20 law enforcers in total have been detained in Georgia in the current year.
