US Secretary of State has reiterated support to Georgia`s political course at the meeting with Georgian famous women in the National Library today. This is the Mrs Clinton went from Tbilisi airport after her arrival to Georgian capital.
The issues on which Mrs Clinton focused were the situation in occupied regions, Georgia-Russia relations, reset of relations between US and Russia and the development of democratic institutions in the country. Over 140 women from the ruling party, opposition, scientific circles, and other famous figures were attending the meeting, where the role of women in the life of a democratic country was another topical issue. Mrs. Clinton emphasized US-Georgia relations, the need to intensify cooperation in various sectors, firm support to Georgia`s territorial unity in relations with Russia, occupied territories and the ways of protecting human rights there.
The guest hailed development of democratic institutions in the country.
`I see the country is developing, how business is done and I am very happy for that. I am sure Georgia is a successful country,` Hillary Clinton said. She greeted Georgia`s first lady and president`s mother and emphasized the role of woman in Georgian history.
`Georgia`s strongest king was Tamar and she was a powerful female monarch. The energy which Georgian women have will make changes in Georgia,` Mrs Clinton said.
