111 officers joined the Georgian Armed Forces. They have sworn an officer's oath before the God and the nation at the drill ground of Davit Agmashenebeli National Defence Academy.
From today, they will be granted the rank of a lieutenant - an initial rank of an officer.
The NDA personnel and invited guests paid tribute to the memory of the Georgian military servicemen killed in action during the fights for Georgia's territorial integrity and international missions by holding a minute of silence.
President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, Minister of Defence Irakli Alasania and Chief of the GS of GAf Major-General Vakhtang Kapanadze attended a solemn event.
Supreme Commander- in- Chief of Georgia congratulated the officers on the accomplishment of the course: "a new wave of intellectual and professional officers has joined the GAF. They will be able to strengthen our countries' defence capabilities. I congratulate them on this wonderful day".
Minister of Defence and Chief of the GS addressed the Academy graduates. Irakli Alasania congratulated the officers on the successful accomplishment of the course, wished them professional development and stressed importance of a soldier's profession. " I was happy to witness their military preparedness level when they were passing practice in the brigades. Georgia has become stronger after these officers enlisted in the army. I am sure in their level of education and professionalism and know that the military units under their command will be among one of the most battle worthy".
Secretary of National Security Council Irina Imerlishvili, Deputy Defence Minister Mikheil Darchiashvili, Sergeant Major of GAF Aluda Kopaliani, NDA and GS leading officials as well as the family members of the course graduates attended the event.
After a solemn ceremony Farther Davit, Chaplain of the GAF blessed the military personnel. The MoD military brass band performed the state anthem.
Infantry Officers' Training Course included 50 weeks. Under the course program, the students studied different disciplines. 150 students have enlisted in the Infantry Officers' Training Course. After 35 week-long preparation the course graduates were sent to attend different Infantry Officers' and Air Officers' training courses.
Today, 80 students have finished Infantry Officers' Training Course having specialized in light infantry skills. Junior Air Officers' Training Course was attended by 18 students and majored in the following specialties: air armament technician, aircrafts' and air motors' technician, aircrafts radio electric devices' technician.
The course graduates will be sent to different units to continue service in the GAF.
