The Agreement on Economic Cooperation between Georgia and Lithuania was signed by the Prime Ministers of the two countries, reports GHN based on press service of the Prime Minister.
Before the signing ceremony, Irakli Garibashvili and Algirdas Butkevicius opened the Georgia-Lithuania Business Forum. More than 100 businesspersons take part in this event.
Georgia's business-friendly environment, strong regional trade ties, and transit potential were the main topics discussed by the Prime Minister of Georgia in his address.
"The DCFTA will contribute to economic growth, integration with world markets and global supply chains, and open new prospects for Georgia and for entrepreneurs doing business in our country," the Prime Minister of Georgia stated, emphasizing the importance of increasing the turnover of trade with Lithuania.
• Trade turnover with Lithuania increased by 30.5%, amounting to 76.59 million USD.
• Export amounted to 31.76 million USD, increasing by 45.9%.
• Import amounted to 44.83 million USD, increasing by 21.4%.
The Prime Minister of Latvia also spoke of the potential in the economic cooperation between the two countries. According to Algirdas Butkevicius, Georgia and Lithuania share common economic interests, and Lithuanian businesspersons are quite interested in cooperation with their Georgian colleagues.
"I have come to Georgia to promote the cooperation between the businesses of our countries, and I am convinced that the Business Forum will prove productive," the Prime Minister of Lithuania stated.
