The chairman of the Assembly of Tbilisi Municipality and deputy of representative organ of the capital Guliko Zumbadze attended the events dedicated to the Holocaust Remembrance Day in "Courtyard Marriott," reports GHN.
The chairman of the Assembly delivered the speech and lighted symbolic candle.
Giorgi Alibegashvili remembered Georgian priest Grigol Feradze who did many things to defend Jews and sacrificed his life to save them.
"Today is the international day of Holocaust that is one of the biggest crimes committed against humanity. In spite of the fact that life of nearly 6 million Jews was eliminated in the concentration camps I express condolences not only to our century's friendly nation but also to whole humanity. I wish this kind of crime never to be repeated," stated Giorgi Alibegashvili.
The chairman of the committee of human rights and civil integration Guliko Zumbadze underlined love and mutual respect between people and nations.
"The humanity has to remember this day always it not to be repeated again. We have to understand that the earth is house and there is no nation that can change form to this house. That's why we all have to respect each other," stated Guliko Zumbadze.
The event dedicated to the victims of Holocaust was opened by public defender Ucha Nanuashvili, who applied guests to honor the victims of Holocaust with a minute of silence.
The event was attended by the representatives of diplomatic corps, international and non-governmental organizations. The guests lighted symbolic candles and one more times remembered 6 million Jews, 2 million gypsies and any other victims of Nazi regime who died while Holocaust.
