The analysis of recent depreciation trend of Georgian Lari against the US dollar shows that this phenomenon is caused by the developments in the region, being the part of global process. Therefore, its consideration without the mentioned context would not be right, - Georgian Prime Minister made this statement during the Government Session today, reports GHN based on press service of the Prime Minister.
As an example, the Prime Minister mentioned the other depreciated currencies of specific countries, and noted that this is the part of strengthening process of the dollar in the world.
According to Irakli Garibashvili's statement, Georgia has a floating exchange rate, which is the most optimal mode for the economy.
"In medium and long-term, financial stability of our country is not in danger. Concierable increase of prices due to the depreciation of the rate should not be expected, especially in light of significant decline in oil prices in the world. The dynamics of prices in medium-term is under controll of the National Bank, which has appropriate tools and full support of the government in terms of the price stability", - stated Irakli Garibashvili.
In addition, the work group led by the Minister of Economy was appointed to work on specific measures, designed to attract the investments, encourage the exports and Georgian production. The Prime Minister said that the Government does everything in its power to keep the situation under control. Irakli Garibashvili has called for the Government's Economic Team to actively communication with the public, and asked the National Bank to keep the population inform on time.
