In 2014 the Roads Department Georgia implemented 526 million GEL projects for the development of infrastructure. The chairman of the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure Vajha Fanchulidze represented to the society report of the activity of the organ of 2014 and explained that with the data of 2014 the budget of the development and exploitation of road infrastructure increased with 97%. With the statement of the head of the organization the priority direction of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure are the projects of the construction of highway on the road sector. The last year on the highway was opened additional 40 kilometers (32 km of Kutaisi bypass and Ruisi-Agara 8km section), that comparing with 2013 more than 24.6km and in comparison with 2012 more than 38.5km, reports GHN.
Constructional activity of the highway during last year was going on 7 different sections, totally on 131km way. Rehabilitation works were made on 265 km section, among them on the roads that lead to touristic places and temples. Were overhauled 42 bridges, in the frame of the project was built 11 new bridges.
"The Road Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure implements the projects for improvement of road infrastructure with the financing of state budget of Georgia and donor organizations. For the preparing of the roads and for keeping care on roads in winter time from the budget was spent 36.7 million GEL," stated the chairman of the Roads Department Vajha Fanchulidze.
In 2014 the shore protection works were made on 26 objects. On 31 object was implemented events of prevention of the natural disaster and their fast liquidation, for this was spent 9 million 179 GEL.
In 2014 in the frame of the Third Secondary and Local Roads Project (SLRP III) was made loan agreement between the government of Georgia and World Bank, the amount of the loan reached 93,75 million USD and takes into account rehabilitation of different sections of the road with length of 200km.
