The human rights defenders welcome the decision of US State Department according to which in LGBT issues will be appointed special representative, reports GHN.
"This is historical moment and important progress that the government of the United Stated of America reached for the protection of the rights of persons of nontraditional sexual orientation and their equality on the society," states the director of the protection of the committee of LGBT rights Jessica Stern. The decision of the state department is also welcomed by one more famous defender of human rights Chad Griffin, who said that after appointment of LGBT special representative United States will make more active negotiations with those countries where LGBT rights are violated severely.
Ambassador of LGBT issues will be appointed at the end of the month. He will be named by US State Secretary. Candidacy of the ambassador doesn't need consent from Senate. The initiative belongs to the democrat senator Ed Markey.
