The Ukrainian authorities will act in the near future in line with the country's economic reform program, President Viktor Yanukovych said at a meeting of the Committee for Economic Reforms on Wednesday, an UKRINFORM correspondent reported.
The head of state noted that proposals for the economic reform program had been made for a long time by experts and non-governmental organizations. "I think that it's a positive signal," Yanukovych said. He said that the working groups of the Committee for Economic Reforms had worked out their proposals with the active participation of the Ukrainian president. "I believe that it's a comprehensive approach," Viktor Yanukovych said.
He also noted that such an approach to reform was complex and systemic. The head of state said that the country's economic reform program was a document that gave clear guidelines for changes in the state. "All further steps by the authorities should be consistently taken in accordance with the program," Yanukovych said. He noted that certain discussions had repeatedly arisen with Prime Minister Mykola Azarov throughout this work. "This does not mean that we'll turn this work into sorting our relationship," the head of state said. He drew attention to the need for a speedy approval of plans by all working groups that are preparing proposals for reforms in many areas. This, Yanukovych said, will help take concrete steps as quickly as possible.
