International competition "Wounded Warriors Regiment" is underway on the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, the state of California, USA. Along with the military servicemen of NATO member countries, Georgian wounded warriors involve in the championship as well, reports GHN based on the Ministry of Defense.
The Georgian team has already participated in three kinds of sport in "Wounded Warriors Regiment" and took the first place. In the final of sitting volleyball Georgian soldiers competed with the Dutch team and gained gold medal.
Georgian warriors also gained victory in archery. Major Malkhaz Shekilashvili became a holder of gold medal and Junior Sergeant Bakhva Darsalia won a silver medal in archery.
Georgian soldiers took the first place also in shooting. Corporal Jimsher Chkhenkeli took the first place and gained gold medal in shooting. Junior Sergeant Davit Makhareishvili became a holder of silver medal.
Within the championship in San-Diego, the Georgian athletes will compete in running as well.
Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton hosts annual competition. In the fifth annual Marine Corps Trials the athletes compete in archery, cycling, shooting, swimming, track, field, sitting volleyball, and wheelchair basketball.
