Tbilisi City Court has sent footballer Giorgi Demetradze to custody for two months. The judge rejected the motion of the lawyer to bail out the sportsman.
Along with Demetradze, another person involved in the scandalous money-extortion case, Giorgi Gagnidze has been also sent to custody. Crime boss, former convict, Vato Kipiani has been sentenced to pre-trial detention in absentia. Kipiani was controlling the extortion of money from Kiev, Ukraine. Giorgi Demetradze and Giorgi Gagnidze organized the extortion contacts in Tbilisi.
Demetradze was detained two days ago. He was charged with contacts with the criminal network and involvement in money extortion deals.
