The hearing on Iberia TV's case was resumed at the Court of Appeals today. The Tbilisi City Court's ruling of February 18th was appealed by the prosecutor of the case EmzarGagnidze at the second instance court.
The hearing lasted for longer than three hours. Judge Spartak Pavliashvili partly granted the prosecutor's motion. Giorgi Latsabidze, a defendant in the case of Iberia TV, was released on bail of 3000 GEL; as for the other defendant in the case, former Prosecutor General Zurab Adeishvili, the Appellation Court left Tbilisi City Court's ruling in force. The Judge defined that as far as Adeishvili had already been prosecuted, sentenced to preliminary imprisonment in absentia and has been wanted internationally, no additional ruling on his detention would be reasonable.
It should be noted that the essential discussion of the case of Iberia TV will be resumed at Tbilisi City Court on March 15th.
The Chief Prosecutor's Office of Georgia charged former Prosecutor General Zurab Adeishvili and his deputy Giorgi Latsabidze with misuse of power on the case of Iberia TV on January 16th, 2016.
