Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Georgian Prime Minister delivers a special statement touching issues of group violence during the elections process. He condemns the violence which happens at the Samegrelo elections point during the local self-governing by-elections process.
"Sanction for expression of group violence during political and electoral processes will be punished for 4 years of imprisonment, while if nobody is injured in the violence, a fine and/or up to two years' imprisonment will be imposed," - says the bill drafted by the Ministry of Justice by the Prime Minister's order.
According to the changes, a new article will be added to the Criminal Code, which will make violence, as well as threats at polling stations or at places of pre-election campaign, punishable under the criminal law.
"Our goal is to conduct elections saving democratic standards, "- Bakradze tells.
