"I always put cause over verbosity and on my new post I will not refuse from this rule. Work and results for the sake of prosperity of my Motherland is the credo with which I take up the duties on the new responsible post. These are the words of President Viktor Yanukovych from his inauguration speech of February 25, 2010. Only a bit more than three months passed since this speech was pronounced, and the President stated: "I directed all the steps made over 100 days to build the basis for the economy development."
In his address to the Ukrainian people, he said about appearance of a chance for the first time over the whole newest history "to set about working calmly and without conflicts and to finally start building Ukraine for people, but not for the power."
Having put an ambitious task to himself and his team to realize a dream cherished by Ukrainians about strong, just and consolidated democratic state that has to be among the world's top twenty countries as the modern state with competitive economy of the 21st century, Viktor Yanukovych, according to his own words, over several months managed to build a strong executive vertical of the power, to stabilize the situation in the economy and to carry out a number of important steps on the international scene.
The President and his team managed to arrange relations with key partners of Ukraine - the European Union, the USA and the Russian Federation, to come to a qualitatively new level of dialogue and cooperation with international organizations and establishments.
Ukraine confirmed the status of a non-nuclear state, the Parliament adopted a bill submitted by Viktor Yanukovych on the principals of domestic and foreign policy which removes from the agenda the issue disputed in the society about NATO accession. At the same time, the President remains a staunch supporter of Ukraine's European choice and the EU accession.
Today, Viktor Yanukovych is turning 60. This date, as it is accepted, is a landmark in the President's course of life. Perhaps, it calls up reminiscences, makes to look back, to estimate small and great deeds and, undoubtedly, to think about the plans. And one should not doubt that the Head of State has a lot of them. The most large-scale plan, undoubtedly, is the Program "Ukraine for People."
Without exaggeration, the President has 47 million of like-minded persons in its implementation. Therefore, this jubilee is, perhaps, the most responsible in his life.
