In Vienna Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze met with Lamberto Zannier OSCE Secretary General. At the meeting talks touched question of cooperation between Georgia and OSCE and future perspectives. Importance of OSCE's close cooperation with autonomous institutions and their role in the country's democratization process was noted at the meeting. Importance of monitoring of the election process by the OSCE international observers was also emphasized.
The Georgian Minister informed the Secretary General about very hard situation in human rights issues in the occupied regions, in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali.
The Minister also talked about the murder of Georgian citizen Giga Otkhozoria on May 19 by the representative of the occupation regime of Abkhazia. The OSCE Secretary General expressed his grief over the tragic incident and stressed the need for creation of international security mechanisms in the occupied regions.
Importance of more involvement of the OSCE in the process of a peaceful resolution of the conflict between Georgia and Russia, including in the framework of international discussions, was also emphasized at the meeting.
