Tina Khidasheli, Georgian Defense Minister is visiting Washington. She takes part in a conference: The Future of NATO Enlargement and New Frontiers in European Security, at the Atlantic Council (ACUS).
She underlined that, much talks were already about a question what the Russian Federation intends to do and should we be aware from teasing Russia or not. "We will make a fundamental mistake by teasing Russia, ‘- Khidasheli tells. She believes, the existing circumstances are forcing countries to take into account dominating Russia's interests and desires. Such factors are making problems for the civilized countries.
"What really irritates Russia? - Not our aspiration to NATO, neither NATO's intentions in Ukraine. The reason much deeper is. The reason why Russia irritated, a question of the energy safety is. The question that so actively is discussed in Europe , which touches an issue of the diversification of the energy carriers. Namely this is a main reason, but not the question of joining of the small country to NATO. The reason a geographical dislocation of our country is, that gives promises to Europe with an alternate energy supply. At the same time Russia might be left without the common energy supply system ... A fundamental and philosophical mistake is, that we are making a fear as a basis for our politics, " - Khidasheli tells.
