Foreign Minister of Poland begins official meetings in Georgia today. Radoslaw Sikorski went to the Hero Square today and laid wreaths on the memorial of the heroes who died for homeland.
Within the visit, Radoslaw Sikorski has already held meeting with Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze. A joint briefing was held after the tet-a-tet meeting for media.
The Polish side reaffirmed its unequivocal support for Georgia`s sovereignty and territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders for the process 0f Georgia`s integration into the European and Euro-Atlantic structures.
The sides emphasized the importance of Poland`s support and experience sharing in the process of Georgia`s integration into the European and Euro-Atlantic structures.
The Georgian side updated the Polish side on the situation on the occupied territories, internal political processes and ongoing reforms in Georgia.
The sides discussed aspects for the deepening of bilateral relations between Georgia and Poland and a broad spectrum of economic issues, current state in the relations with the European Union and NATO and future prospects. Mention was made of the necessity of activating further cooperation in various fields and continuing interaction in a multilateral format.
Later today, the guest will discuss bilateral cooperation with Georgian authorities and discuss Poland`s support to Georgia`s integration into European Union and NATO.
The meeting with the Polish diaspora in Georgia is also planned.
Later today, meetings with the Prime Minister Nika Gilauri and President Mikheil Saakashvili are also on the agenda. Reportedly, Mikheil Saakashvili will host the guest in Batumi city.
Polish Foreign Minister will leave Georgia at 21:00 today.
