Davit Usupashvili, Chair of the Georgian Parliament concerning the Strasbourg Court decision on Merabishvili v. Georgia's case tells that some dreams of ex-Prime Minister come truth.
"Any accused person's dream is to have such a procurator, investigator or judge who will make such mistakes that will give free hands to villain for appealing to those violations on part of the Justice. The legislation defends the process rights, and those norms must be, fulfilled in accordance with ‘s the law. In case of the violation of such rights, a villain desires much his rights to be violated , to have a chance for appealing and to rehabilitate oneself.
A second dream of a villain is (who is connected with a political life) to have such political opponents in a government who will create a political background, that one could be mislead that he is detained only because of the political persecution, but not for the violation of the Rule of Law. Possibly Vano Merabishvili had had such dreams too, and a part of his dreams come truth, " - Davit Usupashvili tells.
As the Court of Human Rights stated today, pre-trial detention of former PM of Georgia was lawful and based on reasonable grounds but was also used as a means to exert pressure on him.
