Shota Khizanishvili ex Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs was detained at the City Court room. He was incriminated by the Prosecutors' Office in misappropriation of large amount of money and wasting of a state budget, also he was accused in an abuse of power. In case if found guilty in all these crimes he may face 7-11 years of imprisonment. However, he is detained in abuse of power and sentenced for year and a half. In the accusation part for misappropriation of state budged he was found by the City Court not guilty.
Khizanishvili, ex Deputy Interior Minister was in previous years GIgi Ugulava former City Mayor's deputy. Also he was head of the Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He was freed on bail.
The City Court delivered a verdict today on the case of illegal secret surveillance. Persons accused in illegal wiretapping of the Georgian Dream leaders' private conversations, have been sentenced for imprisonment. Vazha Leluashvili MIA's high rank official has been sentenced to three years, Levan Kardava and Shota Khizanishvili - a year and a half in jail.
The case refers to publishing Georgian Dream leaders' conversations before the 2012 elections.
