Great expectations for the NATO summit on July 8th and 9th is, the E.U. participation, the U.K. engagement with respect to NATO, is as important as ever. And high expectations are of a very strong NATO meeting with important deliverables that will not change one iota as a consequence of the vote that has taken place. All anticipate an even stronger NATO going forward because the clarity is going to be important, and everybody - the 22 nations in the E.U. part of NATO - that clarity is already defined.
Jens Stoltenberg, the 13th Secretary General of NATO made remarks at NATO Headquarters, in Brussels: "I'm looking forward to the NATO summit being an important captain for strengthening further the alliance. And especially after the U.K. decided to leave the European Union, I think that NATO has become even more important as a captain for cooperation between Europe and North America, but also defense and security cooperation between European NATO allies. And cooperation between NATO and the European Union has always been important, but it's even more important now after the decision of the United Kingdom. So, I look forward to discuss preparations for the summit with Secretary Kerry.
