Davit Usupashvili, Chair of the Georgian Parliament met with Dunya Miyatovich OSCE Representative on Freedom of Media. She attends the 13th media-conference of South Caucasus organized by OSCE within freedom of media issues.
The parties discussed freedom of media and freedom of expression, activity of the Public Broadcaster, Russian propaganda and cooperation between the Georgian Parliament and OSCE Office on Freedom of Media.
According to Ms. Miyatovich, in terms of freedom of media situation in Georgia is satisfactory is with the positive trends. At the background of nearing parliamentary elections, it is necessary to provide free media environment. According to her, Russian propaganda is the problem in Georgia as in many other countries.
As Ms. Miyatovich noted, inadmissible for media to talk on language of hatred, incite violence and mutiny. As noted, the Georgian Parliament and OSCE Office on Freedom of Media have an effective cooperation. Parliamentary Chair is thankful for this.
