Raul Khajinba de facto Abkhazian President expressed its readiness at the meting of his supporters for conducting a referendum on presidential elections.
"If all of you who are staying here and the main population in Abkahzia will vote at the referendum for my resignation, I will accept this decision. But if this will not happen, I will fight against the negativism in the state until the expiration of the terms of my office. I am not afraid of anybody, "- Khajinba tells.
The referendum for early Presidential elections is to be conducted on July 10.
For information, the estimated 1,500 demonstrators broke down gates surrounding the building in the regional capital of Sukhumi on July 5 and clashed with police. Protesters attempted to storm the MIA building twice. Early July 6, Abkhazian television announced that Dzapshba Interior Minister had been dismissed by President Raul Khajimba, and Khajimba was negotiating with protesters on their other demands. Opposition forces in Abkhazia have called Khajimba's rise two years ago unconstitutional.
