The international Committee of the Russian Duma is about to make a statement where MPs are addressing to the government with a recommendation to ban Georgian wine and mineral water Borjomi. Ian Zelinski, Committee member tells this in conversation with media.
The document reads that they are condemning joining of Georgia, Montenegro, Albania, Lichtenstein, Norway to the EU restrictive sanctions and asking the Russian government to take steps in this respect.
"We are responsible to take actions in this respect. We will give a recommendation to the Russian Federation's government to make the same decisions, "- Zelinski tells.
For information, the Declaration was issued by the EU High Representative on behalf of the EU on the alignment of certain countries concerning restrictive measures in response to the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol.
The Candidate Countries Montenegro, Albania, and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries Liechtenstein and Norway, members of the European Economic Area, as well as Ukraine, and Georgia align themselves with this Council Decision. They will ensure that their national policies conform to this Council Decision. The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it.
The Council adopted Council Decision (CFSP) on 17 June 2016. The Council Decision extends existing measures until 23 June 2017.
