Peter Tsiskarishvili (UNM) comments the resent declaration of Koba Gvenetadze, NBG head on de-dollarization, who advised population not to use foreign currencies in big transactions, for instance, in buying-selling real estate and valuable things, and warned from being accustomed to the dollar.
Peter Tsiskarishvili believes the talks about de-dollarization is harmful for our economy. "For the last period of time our government at the high level discussions talks about de-dollarization. Instead of defending main principles of the free market, these people are fighting against dollar and the foreign inflows to our country. This damages an inflow of the capitals to our country, inflows of investments and opening of employment opportunities as a result. The artificial fight against the dollar will damage our economy. This a malicious policy is in the circumstances of lack of accessibility for taking credits in our country. Such interference into the monetary market makes many obstacles.
And the most important is, those people who are calling the population to exchange foreign currencies to the national ones, are selfishly using its bank accounts (according to owner declarations) in dollars. Such people are Kakhi Kaladze, Dimitri Kumsishvili and Gvenetadze."
Notice, NBG head Koba Gvenetadze, is a former politician and economist with a background from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington.
