The Human Rights Observers (HRO), international human rights organizations, Amnesty International are announcing that suspects in coup d'etat attempt in Turkey are being tortured. The report says they were beaten, tortured and raped. Many of them are detained in inappropriate places. For many days they are not supplied with food. The Amnesty International asked the Turkey's government to allow them for an observation of prisons.
On July 16, the coup was prevented in Turkey. Over thousands of people were detained. Mass arrests and dismissals from jobs of militaries and public officials were carried out.
