Several hours before the arrival of French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner to Tbilisi, Georgian Foreign Ministry has made a comment on the visit.
`This meeting as another confirmation that Georgia is not in teh isolation as leaders of some countries say`, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Tornike Gordadze said.
He recounted the statements made by the Russian foreign minister, when Sergei Lavrov said that serious countries have already adjusted to the new status quo, which was achieved by Russia`s recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia as independent countries.
Gordadze said, the reality is absolutely different, that was proved by Secretary Clinton`s visit to Georgia. The U.S Secretary of State stressed during her visit that the mentioned territories are occupied by Russia.
The deputy minister said, the upcoming visits of Bernard Kouchner and European Commissioner Catherine Ashton to Georgia also prove the big support to the country.
`The West is gradually trying in a non-confrontational way to make the process that started after the war in August 2008 revocable and help returning to the same situation as it was before the war`, Gordadze said.
PACE co-rapporteurs for the monitoring of Georgia Kastriot Islami and Michael Jensen also commented on the upcoming high-level visits to Georgia.
`France is one of the important countries of Europe. And making the visit to Georgia demonstrates that France and Europe also, have high interest in Georgia, in the whole region. This visit is the message, that France continues cooperation with Georgia and supporting this country`, Kastriot Islami said.
`I am coming from Denmark, which is one of the old European countries. I really have to say quite clearly, that it is so important, that Old Europe support New Europe, as I call Georgia`, Michael Jensen said.
