Eka Beselia, Chair of the Human Rights Committee and her deputy Gedevan Popkhadze are disseminating the address for diplomatic corpus and international society concerning the events developed around the Constitutional Court.
They are blaming the UNM for using the Constitutional Court as a tool for political fight. They tell that for many years the UNM was politicizing all governmental bodies and institutions, among them the Constitutional Court. In fact no difference did exist between the governmental institutions and its ruling party. All governmental bodies were serving for its will. And the political party in itself was a one person's interests party and served for a small group surrounding him. "Today all became evident, how the Constitutional Court was formed. His head Giogri Papuashvili was a defender of the UNM interests. For him the political interests of the UNM were above the Rule of Law."
The statement counts a number of violations in the Constitutional Court. The address reads that the parliamentarians hope the proper estimation will be given by the international organizations to the above mentioned facts and the current events will be properly viewed.
The hope was expressed, for secure guaranty of the proper functioning of the constitutional bodies and avoiding of the anticonstitutional problems in our country. The priority is to be given for defending of Human Rights but not for the narrow political interests of some group of people, the statement reads.
