The Probation Ministry disseminated today a statement concerning a summon to the Ministry of UNM member - Koba Subeliani.
The Ministry states, that in response to the Koba Subeliani's comment on pressure over prisoners that was disseminated via social media on August 13, the following actions were undertaken by the ministry. After this comment was made the ministry immediately contacted the Member of Parliament for the interview. But he postponed the meeting for August 15 by the reason that he was absent from the city. At the same time Subeliani did not mention any fact of pressure via the phone conversation, and talked only about the general information. He tells also that got this information from one of the imprisoned persons. Instead of August 15, he visited the Penitential Ministry on August 17. At that meeting he did not disclose any fact of pressure again or a surname of victims. He tells that got information from the father of a victim and in fear of following pressure and reprisal the surnames will not be disclosed. Also he gave general information about other facts of witnesses. After the interview with Subelianithe ministry drafted a special document signed by the Member of Parliament.
The Penitential Ministry declares that this is a totally apolitical establishment and excludes any possibility of a participation in an elections process through the pressure over prisoners and its family members.
The statement also reads that in case of any fact of a pressure or manipulation with the elections or other themes, citizens are welcome to apply to the General Inspections of the Probation's Ministry for immediate response to the fact.
