The news agency GHN talked with political scientist Ramaz Sakvarelidze. He estimated current political events and made prognoses for future developments. He discussed the activities of the political parties.
-
What do you think about a much political activity of a President, when our country a parliamentary ruling is? Does this resemble rehearsal before pre- elections campaign?
- Would-be surprising if not. Any person can take part in elections. Legally there are not bindings for limitation of political activities in this sphere. As yet for me it is difficult to make any definite conclusions on the matter.
- Do you think that constitutional amendments prepared by the
Constitutional Commission may invoke tensions in our country. And protest actions .
- Actually the tensions may overgrow into the protest actions and manifestations. Generally the opposition always in tense relations with the government is. However the above mentioned reason has less grounds.
-What chances the opposition has at the forthcoming elections?
I hardly believe they can take any posts after elections. After the Presidential elections the opposition became even more inactive. They minimized own chances for success. Its rating decreased with uninterested political activities and in addition its passivity makes them useless.
