Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili had a telephone conversation with the acting president of Moldova Mikhail Gimpu. Saakashvili offered humanitarian assistance to those regions of the republic, to which the last day disaster has inflicted serious damage.
Under the president`s initiative, Georgian government will construct two villages for the disaster sufferers. It was also decided that 120 children from Moldova would spend summer holidays in Anaklia patriots` camp.
Three special flights will be appointed between Tbilisi and Chisinau to deliver children to the resort and back.
Nonstop rains during the past two weeks in Moldova have inflicted damage to three villages of the Khinchest district. Three thousand people have been left homeless by the disaster. All of them have been evacuated from the disaster region. The water has flooded agricultural lands. The disaster had casualties - one local was lost and another died these days.
The republic has received humanitarian aid from Romania, Austria, Israel and Germany. The aid is expected from the United States, Kazakhstan and UN.
