Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili chaired the session of the government held in Kvareli today. President said in response to some sceptics that it was not the holiday complex, which he opened a few weeks ago, it was a new lake and a new holiday complex, adding many other new objects would be opened in Georgia to promote facilitate the development of tourism in the country. Saakashvili said tourism in Georgia should become the main source of incomes and create new jobs in the country soon.
President spoke about the preparation works for vintage. Saakashvili said the preparation works should begin earlier this year especially after some regions of Kakheti were damaged by disasters. Saakashvili said the works should be carried out in time to provide storing and realization of the harvest in autumn.
Georgian president has also reported the details of his conversation with Moldova`s acting president Mikhai Gimpu. Saakashvili said Georgia would construct to Georgian villages in Moldova for the people, who were left homeless after the last two weeks` disasters. In addition, Georgia would invite 120 children from Moldova to the holiday camps this summer.
President also touched the problems inside the government structure. Saakashvili said the key problem, which hindered the development of the country was bureaucracy and lack of professionalism in official structures. Saakashvili exemplified the reason why the deputy minister of economic development Grigol Gobejishvili was dismissed from the position.
Saakashvili represented the letter of a businessman, who wanted to make a 9 million GEL investment in the city of Poti and asked for the purchase of the land area in order to grow the incomes and the export of product. The letter was attached with the drafts and scheduled how his business should grow and develop. But the letter sent to the businessman by the deputy minister included refusal to sell the land area because the land was not of agricultural territory.
`The issue was about the 9 million GEL investment and the growth of export of Georgian product. Prime Minister Gilauri and I spend days and nights in talking about the significance of the investment growth in the country, when Gobejishvili sends the letter of refusal to the businessman,` Saakashvili said.
`This Gobejishvili must be a good guy in his company, he probably goes to parties and baptizes the children of his friends, but he does not love Georgia. He is a pampered official. Such people are the key problem to Georgia and not enemy and foreign aggression. This is the reason why our people are in poverty today,` Saakashvili said and instructed the minister to check up the qualification of staff in each ministry.
President disapproved the work of the Environmental, health care and the IDPs` ministries, saying these sectors in the country still had many problems. He said the idle and lazy people had nothing to do in Georgian government. `We should not keep flesh at the ministries, we need people who do their job,` Saakashvili concluded and added he would not stand such staff in the official structures any more.
