Chair of Georgian Parliament Davit Bakradze met with members of the group working on the constitutional changes on Wednesday. The issue of creating a parliamentary commission, which will be working on public discussions of the draft constitution during a month was discussed at the meeting. Davit Bakradze was named as the chair and Avtandil Demetrashvili as the deputy chair of the commission.
`The new product and project submitted to the parliament is a subject of public and political discussions and we will continue the process. During the next month we will hold additional consultations with the society, including political parties, the public sector and we will start discussing the draft constitution from the Fall session.`, Davit Bakradze said.
`The parliament is a sovereign body and it will be talking over how to conduct the discussions on the draft constitution, after the pubic debates are over. It is not ruled out that some amendments be made to the project, but the main principles of the project adopted by the commission will be maintained`, Avtandil Demetrashvili said.
