A meeting on family violence issues was held in Sheraton Metekhi Palace in Georgia`s capital Tbilisi on Thursday. The meeting was supported by the Georgian Ombudsperson`s Office and the UNDP.
Representatives of different organizations and state structures working on the problem discussed the ways to fight family violence. They stressed specific examples revealed in ethnically and religiously divert society. They also talked about setting up efficient mechanisms for resolution of the problem.
`This problem exists, although no open discussions re held to resolve it. This meeting being attended by representatives of religious and ethnic councils will help to conduct an open dialogue on this problem`, Spokesperson Giorgi Tughushi said.
