Mamuka Areshidze, political scientist in connection with the International Court of Justice decision on Kosovo independence legitimacy said that this precedent has nothing in common with the Georgian occupied territories. Areshidze said this to GHN.
He commented the declaration of Sergey Shamba, Prime Minister of so-called Abkhazia. He noted that the declaration of Shamba is for internal usage only, for the so-called citizens of Abkhazia. "Firstly it should be noted that ICT delivered a decision in connection with Kosovo, and it has no legal force. Moreover the difference between Kosovo and so-called S.O. and Abkhazia does exist. In Kosovo the ethnic cleansing of the local population happen, contrary in Abkhazia there was an ethnic cleansing of Georgian population. However we should consider that Abkhazians suffered as well in humanitarian terms, as well S.O. and Georgians. But from the point of view of international law these two cases have nothing in common, "- Areshidze said.
We remind you that Abkhazian PM declared to Abkhazian media that the ICT decision makes weightier Abkhazian argumentation for independence.
"I am sure we will reach the same decision at the ICT if we apply to this Court. We have more grounds for independence recognition, form the historic, legal and moral vision then Kosovo has, "- Shamba said.
