Fire has burnt down 25 hectares of cornfield in the village of Takhtisdziri, Kareli district, today. The fire broke out on a grain harvester combine and spread on the field in seconds. The local population fought the fire until the fire brigades arrived and extinguished it totally.
However, the locals say it is a very serious damage for them, because the field belonged to 24 families and it was the first harvest they were going to take after the August war in 2008. They are asking for assistance from local government.
