The public commission, which is in charge of holding open discussions of the new draft constitution of Georgia, has started to work. The commission introduced the basic points of the constitutional amendments to scientists and the representatives of non-governmental organizations. The remarks expressed by the listeners today will be considered later by the commission members. The public discussion of the constitution will be held in various cities of Georgia from now on. The commission will finish working in a month.
The leader of the parliamentary majority, MP Petre Tsiskarishvili is sure that all basic amendments have been already made to the project and only technical corrections are expected until it is finally adopted.
`The primary version of the news constitution focused on the classical model of parliamentary rule, but the model of governance in this document is a mix of presidential and parliamentary rule, which we believe will meet the challenges we face today,` Tsiskarishvili said adding he expects that the public discussions would be effective.
