September the 1st is the day of Unity of Georgia. The date was officially announced by the president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili two years ago, after the Georgia-Russia August war.
On that day, hundreds of thousands of Georgians made a live chain throughout Georgia. In every city, on central highway people were standing in line holding hand-in-hand.
The live chain became the symbol of a circle protecting Georgia from the aggression and the Russian occupation and reminded the international society that Georgia is united and Abkhazia and Tskhinvali Regions are inseparable parts of the country
