BTA. Nasko Sirakov told BTA on Wednesday that he is leaving his post as Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) Director for the National Teams.
This is a second resignation after Bulgaria lost 0-1 to Montenegro in Tuesday's Group G qualifier for the 2012 European Football Championship, which left the country in the last position in the group with zero points and no goals scored in two matches. Head Coach Stanimir Stoilov tendered his resignation immediately after the match.
Sirakov will retain his position as a member of the BFU Executive Board. After Tuesday's match, fans called on BFU President Borislav Mihailov to resign.
Online media report that captain Stiliyan Petrov is considering for the second time quitting the Bulgarian national squad, but he has not announced his decision officially. "As far as I know, Stiliyan is considering quitting as well. But Bulgaria needs him now, as it needs Dimitar Berbatov," outgoing coach Stoilov said. Former captain Dimitar Berbatov left the national team in May.
