MOLDPRES. Acting President Mihai Ghimpu today sent a message to Romanian President Traian Basescu, thanking him for the assistance given to alleviate the consequences of the last summer devastating floods, the presidential press service has said.
The message says:
"Your Excellency,
I would like to offer you the sincerest thanks for Romania's generous gesture, expressed by the assistance given to Moldova to overcome the consequences of the devastating floods that hit a string of Moldova's settlements suffered.
The prompt decision to send construction materials and food products to the flood-hit area confirms once again the deep feelings of friendship of the Romanian people and you personally towards Moldova.
I want to assure you that the Romanian brotherly gesture is highly appreciated by Moldova's citizens, who asked me to convey to you thanks on their behalf. This aid confirms even more the need to consolidate our relations in the spirit of the privileged European partnership between Moldova and Romania.
Mr. President, please accept once again the deepest thanks on behalf of Moldova's citizens and on my own behalf."
